Description
This activity combines the skill of writing linear equations when given either two points or a point and a slope with a mystery. Students will use the clues they gather from correctly solving equations to solve the mystery of The Stolen Jewelry
This kit offers two ways to use this activity.
Use as a Scavenger Hunt: The download includes 24 full-color cards for you to print and hang around your room for a class activity. As students solve the equations, they look around the room for their answer to see what clue they should eliminate.
Use as an Individual Activity: The download also includes a version that has all of the necessary clue information so students can complete this activity outside of the classroom. This is perfect for students who were absent during the class activity.
In both versions, the worksheet contains 20 equations.
Each answer is associated with either a person, a piece of jewelry or a location where the jewelry was stored. When a student gets the answer, that option is eliminated from the mystery. When they are finished, students will know whose jewelry was stolen, what jewelry it was and where it was stolen from!
While this can be used as a stand-alone activity, it is also a continuation of earlier mysteries. The mystery began with Slope Mystery Activity and then continued with Graphing Slope-Intercept Form Mystery Activity.
